Hannah Conklin West was born February 24, 1769 in a part of Frederick County, Virginia which is now Jefferson County, West Virginia. Her father was Jacob Conklin. Hannah married William West when she was 19 years old on February 12, 1788 in Jefferson County, Virginia. William was born on May 29, 1769 in Rock Creek, Frederick County, Maryland. His parents were John West and Rachel Perry. Hannah and William's older children were born in Virginia: The family moved to Ohio about 1800 and were early settlers there. Their younger children were born in Ohio: William West appeared in the 1820 census of Jackson Township, Champaign County, Ohio. The household consisted of a man and a woman older than 45 (Hannah and William age 51, 2 boys between 10 and 15 (Stephen and James), and a boy under 10 (Jacob). In 1830, they were still in Jackson Township. The household consisted of a man and a woman between 60 and 69, and a boy between 15 and 19. Hannah died on March 1, 1839 when she was 70 years old and William followed soon after on August 23 of the same year. They both died in Mad River Township, Champaign County, Ohio.
